Protein Hot Chocolate
This creamy Protein Hot Chocolate delivers 27g of protein, deep chocolate flavor, and all the cozy café comfort you love—made in less than 10 minutes with simple ingredients. It’s a healthier, high-protein upgrade to classic hot chocolate that keeps you warm and satisfied.
Ingredients:
1 ½ cup high protein milk, dairy or non-dairy (I used 1 cup soy milk & ½ cup cashew milk)
1 tbsp cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
½ scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder (whey isolate works best OR 1 serving collagen powder)
1 tbsp sweetener, any (this is optional, I did not use any)
1 tsp vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp or 15g dark chocolate, finely chopped
Optional: 1/8 tsp peppermint extract
Toppings: Choose whatever you love
Marshmallows, whipped cream, cinnamon, shaved chocolate, crushed peppermint
Instructions:
In a medium saucepot, add milk, cacao powder, protein powder, sweetener of choice if using, vanilla and salt. Whisk until all the powders are dissolved. Get mixture to a simmer, do not boil, the protein powder can make it gritty, then add you finely chopped chocolate. Turn off the heat and whisk until chocolate is melted. Pour into a mug and add whatever toppings you love! I used whipping cream and a dash of cinnamon
